After suffering five miscarriages and a stillbirth, Quebec Liberal MNA Désirée McGraw successfully sponsored a bill to formally recognize October 15th as Perinatal Bereavement Awareness Day. Passed with unanimous support, the legislation is meant to destigmatize the grief of pregnancy and infant loss. McGraw hopes the official recognition will lead to more concrete support measures, like accessible grief counseling and paid leave, for affected families.
